Company History
In 1977, Eastern Scientific Associates was established in Killingly, Connecticut. This location was selected due to the proximity of its market base, and for planned future growth in the major metropolitan areas including Boston, Hartford, Providence, and New York.
In 1988, the laboratory was purchased by Laboratory Resources, Inc., a subsidiary of United Water Resources, and renamed Laboratory Resource, Inc. - New England Division. With the initial acquisition, several major improvements in analytical instrumentation, facilities, and sales and marketing strategies were instituted. During the period from 1988 - December 1996, Laboratory Resources, Inc. - New England Division grew to and remained a major environmental testing and analytical laboratory in the Northeast.
In December 1996, United Water Resources exited the environmental testing business to focus on growing their core water services. This decision facilitated the purchase of the environmental testing business in Dayville, CT by a management-led group, and precipitated the establishment of Premier Laboratory. Even though the ownership of the laboratory changed, the management, employees, equipment and physical plant remained in place as well as the customer base. Key managers have more than 75 years of cumulative experience.
